Evaluation of Cognitive Impairments
Impairments of cognitive function are among the most common and important problems that lead to disability after acquired brain injury. Treatment of cognitive dysfunction is central to the treatment and recovery of individuals because of the widespread impact of cognitive rehabilitation on safety, functional independence, productive living, and social interaction.
OMI offers assessment and rehab for many cognitive issues such as:
- Reasoning and Problem Solving
- Visual Perception
- Impulse Control
- Abstract Thinking
- Behavioral Functioning
- Adaptive Functioning
These skills consist of a variety of cognitive processes working together in an organized fashion. Many if not all aspects of functional, everyday behavior are impacted by executive functioning skills.
OMI’s clinical team may suggest a cognitive evaluation to get a more complete and comprehensive look at each person.
